There is no possible to have the curly piano bracket horisontal. there are lots of smart lines available, but not the curly one. Well, that's where I'd want to be able to find what I need, but what I want is the curly piano bracket, but horizontal. and can of course adjust fonts and such as desired. You'll see that you can add text - and can add a "hook" going up or down at the beginning and/or end of the line, can have lines solid or dotted, etc. In there, you can either take one of the existing shapes and edit that, or start from scratch. Hey Amy - unless this has changed from 2011 to 2012, I believe what you need is the custom line tool - you can get to it from the Smart Shape tool palette, it looks like a straight line with a little question mark over it. Basically, what the author is illustrating is the grouping of notes in various time signatures (6/4 breaks down into two groups of 3 quarters, 9/8 into 3 groups of eighths, etc). Is there any way to create a bracket (like the curly piano staff bracket) as a smart shape, or expression or articulation or something else entirely, that sits horizontally instead of vertically?Įssentially, the examples I'm creating (for a text book) have numbers under each note (I'm using the lyric tool to place these) and then under the numbers is a horizontal bracket stretching from the first number to the last (most of the time it's 3 notes/numbers), and then under that bracket is one number.
